A discussion/moan about the inevitable fate that awaits women of a certain age, the movement of breasts down south, followed. It was the inevitability of this that I questioned as I know swimming can help both slow and improve this. In particular swimming breaststroke helps to mitigate the migration. Breaststroke uses the pectoral muscles, these are the ones that help to lift and keep breasts in place and any exercise that strengths the pecs will help keep breasts where they should be. Of course there are other exercises that you can do; pec dec, bench press, cable pull downs, press-ups and chest flyes to name a few… but swimming in Ibiza, with easy access to pools or the sea is undoubtedly a more enjoyable experience and while it won’t increase their size, it will keep them up and is a lot less expensive and I imagine a lot less painful than implant surgery. So for a natural breast lift swim breaststroke :)

Why we love swimming so much...

It is generally accepted that swimming is one of the best forms of exercise. But what makes swimming so good? Here are some reasons why...

Having confidence and awareness in and by the water helps you remain safe in the water and reduces the risk of drowning.

Swimming can improve your strength, suppleness and stamina - simultaneously!

It doesn't cost much to go swimming and swimming in Ibiza we are blessed with the beautiful and mostly warm Med which costs nothing. The stuff you need to swim doesn't cost much either (pair of goggles, hat and suit) all in all making it a pretty cheap activity. I will be doing a series on swimming pools in Ibiza, watch this space.

You get a great cardiovascular workout by swimming, strengthening your heart and improving oxygen delivery to muscles. Swimming a variety of all the strokes will ensure you get a full body work out too.

Swimming also helps to keep joints flexible.

Swimming does not discriminate on age or ability... from 6 months to 100 or beginner to olympiad all can enjoy in some way the benefits of swimming.

Since the body is naturally buoyant in the water, swimming is kind on your body. This also makes it particularly good for women who are pregnant, those with arthritis, back-problems or for those who find land based weight-bearing exercise difficult.

Swimming can be a really relaxing meditative exercise, benefiting your body as well as your mind.

Many other great activities for kids and adults are opened up with an ability to swim, water-polo, synchronised swimming, wake-boarding, water skiing, windsurfing, scuba diving... the list goes on.

And... there's just nothing like a dip in the pool on a hot summer's day.

These are just a few of the main reasons swimming is so good for you and why we love it so much. As with any activity the better you are at it, the more enjoyment you gain from it.
